Two PhD fellowships, 'Modernism and Christianity: Literature, History, Archive'

The Department of Foreign Languages, University of Bergen, Norway, is advertising two generously funded PhD fellowships connected with the research project 'Modernism and Christianity: Literature, History, Archive'. The deadline has been extended to 11th of April because of the low number of applications in the initial round. If anyone knows of relevant candidates (who must hold an MA at the time of application, though not a PhD), please encourage them to apply.
Benefits include:
* A full salary of c. 383 000 NOK per annum ($68,748 -- £ 42,300)
* An additional travel and research budget of c. 24 000 NOK per annum
* An optional extra year of teaching at the same salary (so 3 + 1 years altogether if this option is taken)
* Office space, computing facilities and administrative support in Bergen (the tradition in Norway is that a PhD student is considered part of the Faculty)
* A term as Visiting Students at the Centre for Christianity and Culture, Regent's Park College, Oxford, with full access to libraries, and participation in ongoing seminars on theology and modern literature
* Two courses paid for by project funds: 1) "Manuscript genetics and modernist manuscripts" at the University of Antwerp, Belgium and 2) "Theology and modernity" at the Centre of Theology and Philosophy, University of Nottingham, UK
* An archival researcher employed by the project for six months will be able to tailor some research towards the research projects of these PhDs; and they will generally have full access to a large archival database on the project theme, including digital photos, transcriptions and relevant catalogues
* The opportunity to participate in a large conference ("Modernism, Christianity and Apocalypse") planned for July 2012 in Bergen; to become involved in the production of the planned journal "Modernism and Christianity"; and to interact with several prominent academic visitors
* After completion, their work could be considered for the new Continuum book series Historicizing Modernism, edited by myself and Dr Matthew Feldman
