Faculty Lecturership in Spanish American Literature

Grade 10a: Salary £42,733 - £57,431 p.a.
The University proposes to appoint a Faculty Lecturer in Spanish American Literature in the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages from 1 October 2011. The post is associated with a Tutorial Fellowship at St Catherine's College and a Lecturership at St John's College.
The successful candidate will be a specialist in Spanish American Literature. Candidates should already have an outstanding research reputation and a publications record of international quality which will contribute substantially to the submission of the sub-Faculty of Spanish for the Research Excellence Framework.
Spanish is one of eight sub-faculties within the Faculty of Medieval and Modern Languages. The successful candidate will be able to teach across the range of papers in the first year (Prelims) course and in appropriate areas of the Final Honour School course, as well as contributing to the teaching of Spanish language. The successful candidate will also be expected to assist in the recruitment of graduate students in her/his area(s) of specialism, to contribute to taught Masters degrees (including planned new Masters programmes in Spanish Literature), to undertake graduate supervision as appropriate, and to take on appropriate administrative duties within the faculty.
Candidates should have a PhD or (for candidates in national education systems where the PhD does not apply) be a candidate for the appropriate doctoral examination, and be sufficiently proficient in both English and Spanish to carry out teaching and administration in those languages.
