Sixteenth/Seventeenth century Peninsular Spanish literature and/or cultural history

Salary Range: This appointment will be made on the Lectureship scale at a point in line with current Government Pay Policy.

 

Post Summary

The School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies seeks to appoint (five-year contract) a Lecturer in Hispanic Studies. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. completed, and will have a proven research record. He/she will be expected to contribute to, and develop, the existing Masters' programmes of the School: M.Phil. in Literary Translation; M.Phil. in Comparative Literature; and M.Phil. in European Studies. He/she will contribute to the sustainable development of existing undergraduate courses in Pensinsular Spanish, and the teaching of Spanish language will be a requirement. The desired research profile of the successful candidate will be in sixteenth /seventeenth century Peninsular Spanish literature (Spanish Golden Age). Applications from those with expertise in prose fiction, and/or drama, and/or poetry and/or cultural history of the period will be welcome.

 

Further Particulars

The Department of Hispanic Studies has four full-time members of staff whose specialist interests include medieval literature, Modern Spanish literature and history, Contemporary Latin-American literature, and linguistics. The successful candidate will contribute to the development of taught M.Phil. programmes within the School, and be able to supervise research students at masters' and Ph.D. level.
