COLLEGE OF HUMANITIES AND SOCIAL SCIENCE
Division of European Languages and Cultures
University of Edinburgh - School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures
The School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures seeks to appoint a full-time Lecturer in Medieval Studies.
You will have a proven track record and/or outstanding research potential, a clear research agenda, and the ability to undertake the teaching and supervision of medieval French literature and culture at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. You will also have fluent competence in French and at least one of the other languages offered by the division of European languages and cultures (Catalan, Danish, German, Italian, Norwegian, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish and Swedish), and relevant teaching experience. You will be expected to contribute to medieval teaching in French plus at least one other of the above languages, at both Undergraduate and Postgraduate levels, and to contribute innovatively to the development of the School's taught Postgraduate courses, especially the MSc in Medieval Studies. You will have completed, or be near completion of, a PhD in a relevant area.
Applications are invited from candidates with specialisms in all of the languages taught within DELC, but with the requirement that they should have the ability to deliver the teaching of medieval French literature and culture to an advanced level. The ability to teach palaeography to post graduates is highly desirable.
The post is available from 1 January 2012 or as soon as possible thereafter. We hope to hold interviews at the end of September.
