We are looking to appoint a member of staff to contribute to the strength and success of the Languages team. The Faculty of Education and Society runs the University Language Scheme. Its aims are to increase the foreign language linguistic competence of students at the university. We also run two subjects on the Combined Studies Programme, on which students can combine 2 of 30 subjects to degree level, including French and Spanish. Our aim is to grow these language programmes. The role is based in Sunderland.
The successful candidate will teach French modules at undergraduate level and on the ULS.
The role provides academic services including teaching, assessment, research, administration, outreach and student support, for French. The role also involves module leadership, helping preparing students to go abroad on Erasmus exchanges, and project supervision.
You will hold a Masters degree or equivalent in a relevant subject and be registered for, or demonstrate the ability to progress to a Doctoral programme. You will have excellent language skills in both English and French commensurate with a native speaker; in addition you will also have experience of teaching French in HE. You will also have demonstrable experience of leading modules, or have the potential to do so, and will engage in continuous professional development.
22.2 hours per week, 0.6 FTE

£30,123 - £35,939 per annum, pro rata
