Lecturer in Translation Studies - Spanish (fixed-term)

£32,901 - £44,166 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Salary progression beyond this scale is subject to performance.
Applications are invited for the above post based in the Department of Spanish, Portuguese and Latin American Studies (SPLAS) in collaboration with the Centre for Translation and Contemporary Cultural Studies (CTCCS) at the University of Nottingham, UK. CTCCS is a recently-created umbrella unit bringing together specialists with teaching and research interests in the field of translation. SPLAS is an established centre of Iberian studies graded joint first on research quality in RAE 2008 and home to a large and dynamic research postgraduate community and a thriving undergraduate population. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching Spanish to English translation on the MA in Translation Studies, along with translation skills and other appropriate aspects of Spanish language, linguistics or interpreting at undergraduate or postgraduate level; offering postgraduate supervision in an appropriate specialist area; conducting research in a suitable specialist area; and carrying out administrative tasks as directed by the Head of SPLAS and the Director of CTCCS.
Candidates must have a PhD (or equivalent) in Hispanic Studies or Translation Studies or related area. Publication(s) appropriate to an early career researcher which show potential for a sustained and high-quality level of output is also essential. The successful candidate must have native level fluency in English, with native or near-native level of fluency in Spanish. Experience of teaching Spanish to English translation and/or Spanish linguistics is desirable. It is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to the development of translation studies in Spanish at MA and undergraduate level.
This full-time post will be offered on a fixed-term contract until 31/07/2015.
