The department of "Communication and Cultural Management" invites applications for the following academic position, to be filled at September 1, 2010:

 

Professorship in Media Theory, Film and New Media

 

The new chair for media theory, especially film and/or new media, is planned to do research and teaching in the fields of the media film, television, computer, and internet. The focus is on social sciences and humanities based inquiries into the cultural background and consequences of communication within the medium of moving pictures, digital programs, and visual arts. A historical perspective is important as well. Helpful is a practical knowledge in the fields of film techniques and/or programming. The chair is part of the bachelor and master studies in communication and cultural management. We expect innovative concepts in teaching, an ability to teach in English and German, and an engagement with the research clusters of the university and with funds acquisition. A habilitation or a comparable achievement in teaching and research is presupposed.
