VERBAL-Workshop “Mobility & Language / Mobilität & Sprache” im Rahmen der Österreichischen Linguistiktagung (ÖLT) in Salzburg vom 22. bis 24. November 2013
Mobilität kann vieles bedeuten, Bewegen und Bewegtwerden, Bewegung und Fortbewegung, Ortswechsel in Raum, Geist und Gesellschaft, und die Bereitschaft, die Lust oder den Zwang, den eigenen Standpunkt, das eigene Milieu oder das eigene Zuhause zu verlassen. Mobilität umfasst so unterschiedliche soziale, kulturelle und politische Phänomene wie Migration, Tourismus, Verkehr, Sport, berufliche Flexibilität/Anpassung und gesundheitlichbedingte Bewegungseinschränkungen. Mobilität scheint damit ein essentieller Bestandteil unserer Sichtweise auf die moderne Welt.
Der Workshop “Mobility & Language / Mobilität & Sprache” will die Rolle von Sprache und Diskurs in dieser facettenreichen Konstruktion des Begriffs oder der Begriffe von Mobilität beleuchten. Wir freuen uns auf linguistische und linguistiknahe Beiträge, die dieses Thema von verschiedenen methodischen und disziplinären Perspektiven untersuchen, von der Soziolinguistik und der Diskursanalyse zur Semantik und historisch-vergleichenden Sprachwissenschaft. Wir hoffen auf Beiträge zu einem möglichst weiten Spektrum an Sprachen und anderen semiotischen Modi des untersuchten Materials.
Der Workshop “Mobility & Language / Mobilität & Sprache” setzt die VERBAL-Reihe “X & Language/X & Sprache” fort und findet im Rahmen der Österreichischen Linguistiktagung (ÖLT) in Salzburg vom 22. bis 24. November 2013 statt. Er wird von Marietta Calderón und Georg Marko organisiert und geleitet.
Die Slots für Vorträge sind 30 Minuten lang (20 Minuten Vortrag, 10 Minuten Diskussion), eine Publikation in Form eines Sammelbandes ist geplant.
Beitragstitel mit Abstract in Deutsch oder Englisch erbeten an marietta.calderon@sbg.ac.at, Einreichfrist: 15. Juli 2013; die Verständigung über die Auswahl wird voraussichtlich Anfang August erfolgen.

Mobility means many things, moving and being moved, being ready and being able to move, desiring to move and being forced to move, moving in physical, social and cognitive spaces, moving from one place to another or moving as an activity in its own right. Mobility covers such diverse social, cultural and political phenomena as migration, tourism, transport, sports, professional flexibility and disability. Mobility thus seems to conceptually organize our thinking about the modern world.
The workshop “Mobility & Language” seeks to explore the role that language and discourse play in shaping and constructing the multi-faceted concept/s of mobility. We invite contributions approaching this topic from various methodological and disciplinary angles, ranging from sociolinguistics and discourse analysis to semantics and historical linguistics. There are no restrictions on the language or the semiotic mode of the material to be analysed as we are looking for a wide range of different contributions.
The workshop “Mobility & Language / Mobilität & Sprache”, continuing the VERBAL* series “X & Language / X & Sprache”, will take place at the University of Salzburg, 22-24 November 2013, as part of the programme of the ÖLT, the annual conference of linguistics in Austria. It will be organized by Marietta Calderón and Georg Marko.
We would like to invite you to submit an abstract of no more than 300 words to marietta.calderon@sbg.ac.at by 15 July 2013. Individual presentations will be allocated 30 minutes (including 10 minutes for discussion). The workshop languages are English and German. We are planning to publish a volume of the papers from the workshop.
